Dr. Barry Schumer was born in Santa Monica, California and raised in southern California. He attended U.C.L.A. as an undergraduate where he received a Bachelor of Science  Degree and received his M.D. from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Schumer completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at U.C.L.A. hospital and became board certified in Internal Medicine in 1981. Dr. Schumer joined Internal Medicine Associates in 1981 and has practiced with the group his entire professional career. As an avid lover of thoroughbred horse racing, he also works as Keeneland’s Medical Director where his duties include supervising the first aid and emergency services at the racecourse.
